Light-emitting diode (LED) lighting is generally gaining popularity as the lighting technology of choice for most homes and businesses. This is because LED lighting is much safer, cheaper, and more energy efficient than other lighting sources. Most common LED lighting fixtures include LED light panels, LED garden lighting, LED wall washers, LED rope lighting, and LED office lighting. Other examples are LED spotlights, LED scanners, LED cove lighting, LED tube lighting and LED displays, among many others.

These LED lighting fixtures usually have higher luminance and yet they consume less energy, thus inspiring many office buildings to convert to LED lighting. The use of LED computer displays is also becoming more common in many work places. Lobbies, entryways, conference rooms, and parking lots can be illuminated using LED lighting fixtures as well. Companies that are already using this technology report that they are consuming approximately 48 percent less energy than when they were using their old lighting technology.

In many residential areas, LED lighting fixtures are also gaining popularity. More manufacturers are producing LED television units and other household electronic products such as LED flashlights and LED headlamps. The exterior and interior of homes can also benefit from LED technology's higher luminance and lower cost. The majority of home owners are often looking for ways to save money, thus they are implementing the use of LED lighting technology into their homes. Examples of these LED lighting fixtures being used in most homes are LED bulbs, LED garden lighting, LED cove lighting, and appliances with LED displays.

Commercial and industrial operations are also starting to implement LED lighting technology. With the promise of lower costs and better lighting, a number of restaurants, factories, hotels, and other business establishments have already started using LED lighting fixtures. Most of these LED light panels, LED wall washers, LED rope lighting, and LED spotlights are not only energy efficient, but they are visually appealing as well. This is why a number of interior decorators and architects are integrating various LED lighting fixtures into their plans and designs.

Applications for LED lighting are generally being developed every day. LED lighting fixtures are being used by all kinds of businesses and households not only for cost efficiency and energy conservation, but also for aesthetic purposes. Aside from these benefits, LED lighting are also much safer to use because they do not break easily, do not emit heat, and they can be recycled.

@croydon - They are really good because they last so long. I was traveling with a bunch of friends and we all had head lamps because they made it much easier to get around when you are in a youth hostel.

We'd sometimes sit up quite late reading by our head lamps, or would use them to get things out of our packs if the others were asleep and so forth.

Anyway, I just bought a cheap one on the road, because I didn't realize it would be so handy, but my friends all had LED head lamps. And, of course, they all lasted the whole trip, while mine died halfway through.

Sometimes I think it's better to just go with the more expensive choice if you know it's going to last a long time. I know when I get around to replacing the exterior lighting fixtures at my house, I'm going with LEDs all the way.

LED lights are really the best kind to use, particularly if you are looking for longevity. I know they cost a little more, but you pretty much make that back by the end of it.

I've got a few LED outdoor lighting fixtures and I haven't had to change the bulbs since I got them, which was a while ago now. I've had normal light bulbs burn out in half the time.

The best thing is, you can choose what kind of light you want. I got a mix of blue light and more yellow lights and I think it looks really nice outside, especially in the summer when we tend to hang around out there after dark.
